World renowned chef Francis Mallmann hosts exclusive culinary weekend in Miami from 10 – 13 August

By Sue Tidy   |

When Argentinian grill master Francis Mallmann opened Los Fuegos at Faena Hotel Miami Beach, he set fire to Miami’s culinary belly.

He has brought his passion for the ancient art of South American live fire cooking to the Faena, and creates a contempary asado experience with an open fire kitchen, using local ingredients to transform traditional rustic recipes into sophisticated savoury dishes.

Now, for the first time, foodies who can stand the heat are invited to get up close and personal with the gastronomic genius, thanks to Faena’s new ‘Epicurean Escape Weekend Culinary Package’.

This three-day delicious adventure for up to 12 guests begins with an intimate welcome reception at Faena’s idyllic ‘Tree of Life’, where Chef Mallmann and participants will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings selected by the hotel’s sommelier.

The experience continues with two private cooking classes with an intimate group of gourmands and the master himself, where guests will serve as Chef Mallmann’s sous chefs, as he takes them behind the scenes and offers an insight into the famous techniques behind some of his signature dishes.

These include cured wild salmon, tuna crudo, Argentine beef tenderloin Milanesa, flame-licked vegetables and sweetbreads a la plancha.

Chefs-in-training will then indulge in the fruits of their labour during an entertaining sit-down lunch and dinner alongside Chef Mallmann, and have the chance to feast on the delicacies they have created.

Also included in the package is a 20% discount on treatments at Faena’s luxurious sanctuary, Tierra Santa Healing House, as well as two passes to the spa’s rejuvenating Wet Spa.

Other benefits include a welcome bottle of signature Faena Wine, a $150 resort credit, and a signed copy of Chef Mallmann’s bestselling grilling guide Seven Fires, so guests can continue to sharpen their new knife skills long after they head home.

The Faena itself is a treat for the senses, from the plush interiors of turquoise, red and gold to Damien Hirst’s sculpture of a mammoth skeleton coated in 24 carat gold, it provides a vibrant backdrop and a perfect location overlooking Miami Beach.
