Interior designer to the stars Celia Sawyer has created a £100,000 bath for the luxury market. Journalist Suzi Gillatt finds out what all the fuss is about.

It’s been named the ultimate status symbol; a shimmering 24-carat gold bath adorned with 250,000 crystals, designed by celebrity interior designer Celia Sawyer.

If you like to relax in the lap of luxury then Celia Sawyer’s unique, real gold bath could be just the thing for your bathroom suite.

The bespoke bath is created using 24k carat gold, crystal and platinum detail.

The creation is a work-of-art in its own right, representing luxury in true form; elements from the earth used in a bespoke manner to represent indulgence and elegance in the home. The specially-sourced crystals, both clear and Topaz in colour, cascade around the bath to symbolise flowing water and life, with each detail designer by Sawyer herself.

The designer exclusively told Luxury Lifestyle Magazine: “My client requested a glamorous bath made of gold, and money was no object. The project, which began in the summer of 2016 has taken six months to design, source the materials, manufacture and create. It’s been an exciting venture and I’m delighted with the end result. More people need baths like this!”

With all-star Sawyer at the helm, who is one of the mainstream dealers on Channel 4’s prime-time Television show Four Rooms, the bath is nothing less than extraordinary. The detailing is impeccable inside and out.

Sawyer invited other masters of their craft from the UK design scene to be involved with certain aspects of the bath also. Mosaic and gold-leaf specialists, Grace of London, has a team of three craftsmen who made the bath from yellow gold, lemon gold and white gold, desribe it as a “tactile synthesis of colour” and said the market for one-off “masterpieces” of this kind is growing in Britain.

Sawyer likes to support British artisans through her Mayfair based interior design agency, Celia Sawyer Luxury Interiors.

This iconic bath is a first for Celia Sawyer and her artisans. Could this be the luxury gift you’ve been looking for? Spending £100,000 on a bespoke bath is no mean-feat but if budget is no option, this is a world first.

Sawyer designs multi-million pound homes around the globe, as well as private jets and yachts for her clients. Cesc Febregas, the Chelsea player, hired her when designing his house in Hampstead, North London, as well as Cheryl Cole and other famous faces from sports stars to high-profile property developers.
