By Jyoti Balani   |

Located at Whitefield, the IT hub of Bengaluru, Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield is a vibrant, energetic and yet a business centered hotel. I was recently invited to this popular hotel and came away impressed with the service and food. With an IT corridor that includes multinationals, BPO’s and international company headquarters, the hotel is without doubt an ideal place to stay for any business traveler. Owing to Bangalore’s traffic condition, the location of this hotel is most definitely its unique selling point. More than 80 % of guests comprise of independent business travelers who visit the city for an average of 7 to 14 days and hence plan their trip accordingly. With a mall interconnected to the hotel, multiplexes at walk able distances and the vast variety of culinary indulgence within the hotel, the practical needs of every traveler are catered to at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield. Local attractions include Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore Palace and Iskcon Temple. Bangalore city centre is a 30-minute drive away while it takes about an hour to drive to Bengaluru International Airport.

A round the clock fitness center is available in the hotel for those who can’t afford to miss their fitness regimen. Those who refer relaxing in a spa can head towards Sama Spa which is conceptualized to address the equilibrium of body, mind and soul through a gamut of therapies including Ayurvedic therapies, western therapies and other body treatments. The elusive aroma of scented candles and essential oils, the pleasing décor and ambiance, soothing music for a heavenly experience, greet you as one steps into this spa. Whitefield Baking Company, a deli cum patisserie in Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield, is an ideal hotspot in the city. Starting from pastries, to baking what might just be the best breads in town, the focus of the menu is freshly crafted baked goods. Traditional cakes, tarts and gateaux, a delicious soft centered chocolate cookie, which is now a signature treat, or a slice of ‘melt in your mouth’ cake along with their cup of coffee any time of the day makes WBC a foodies delight. Those who prefer savouries can go for the pies, quiches or made to order sandwiches and wraps. The ambience is contemporary, warm and inviting with wooden flooring and cozy chairs to sink into. A live bakery is the main attraction of the outlet with a lavish display of freshly baked breads and an iconic Italian Coffee Machine. I visited the hotel’s signature restaurant, Whitefield Bar and Grill (WBG) for a tranquilizing pool-side dining experience. This pool-side restaurant offers guests with an ideal location to sit back and unwind in the relentless summer heat, while enjoying palatable tandoors, grills and satiating drinks. With a rustic ambience that exudes serenity, the restaurant is an ideal place to forget the hustle bustle of daily life and bask in the relaxing atmosphere. The elaborate food menu has mouth-watering grills like half baby spring chicken, drumstick ‘tangri’ kebab, salmon, lamb shoulder kebab, beef sirloin and portobello mushroom, along with other delicious preparations like Vallombrosa buratta salad, Kerala coast green lip mussels, pulled pork burger, grilled beef burger and grilled chicken burger. Speaking about the popular restaurant, Jatin Khanna, General Manager said, “WBG, the signature restaurant at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel, Whitefield offers an irresistible range of tandoors and grills with a poolside ambience. Our endeavor is to bring perfectly cooked grilled cuisine to the people dining at the restaurant and provide a relaxing getaway from the commercial bustle of the city. We intend to provide an unforgettable dining experience to guests, which they will relish for a long time.”

Alto Vino, the hotel’s Italian fine dining restaurant. serves hand crafted and carefully designed authentic Italian cuisine. An open interactive kitchen concept allows the tantalizing aromas of Tuscan, Lombardy and even Liguria delicacies to transport one to a home in Italy. Wood top tables and the wooden and marble floor contribute to the contemporary yet traditional decor of the restaurant.

M Café with it’s traditional English live cooking stations, wire cut brick facades, classic leather and timber chairs is a favourite with those who prefer variety while eating. An external courtyard framed by the dramatic fountain allows guest to relax outside. Chandeliers, a wood fired oven in the centre of the open kitchen, a huge wine bottle display with the right lighting all these add to create just the right ambience for a wonderful meal.
