By Georgie Bentley-Buckle   |

If 2020 had a silver lining it would be that it has made way for some pioneering independent brands. This includes Balance Coffee, the ethical specialists that are championing sustainability with high-quality coffee delivered directly to your front door.

James Bellis, coffee expert and aficionado is the founder of Balance Coffee, a passion project which came to light earlier this year having worked in the industry for the majority of the last decade. Formed on the principle of how choosing the sustainable route is simply no longer an option, James and his team are dedicated to educating coffee drinkers on why they need to be investing in and brewing the finest ethical coffee available.

James shared with me that he set up Balance Coffee at the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown after realising that “not only did people need tasty speciality coffee delivered to their home, they also needed educating on how they too can produce café quality coffee they were used to receiving from their local cafes”.

Certifying that every cup they produce contributes positively to the future of our planet, since day one he has been driving the brand forward with their insider knowledge and personal devotion to using coffee as a tool to create lasting change. Balance Coffee do this by leading with a number of simple initiatives to ensure they make a positive impact. This includes sourcing beans from some of the highest quality farmers around the world to taking extra care on the selection process, their methods of roasting, and expert taste testing to offer consistent quality in every cup created. Additionally, with every cup of coffee sold, the Balance team offset harmful CO2 emissions, donate 1% of their profits to the Project Waterfall initiative: a coffee charity which helps provide clean water for coffee growing communities and passionately support the livelihoods of coffee farmers at origin.
