Ling Ling Mykonos lands in the limelight
She’s younger, cheekier, trendier and chicer than you can imagine, and this summer she’s making a highly anticipated return to Mykonos for another season of sunshine and style. Described by some as ‘Hakkasan’s naughty little sister’ Ling Ling is a new restaurant concept from Hakkasan, twisting and twirling the Hakkasan DNA ever so slightly to create the latest dining concept; oozing culinary excellence with a fair helping of decadence. Found within the trendiest part of Mykonos’ old town, Ling Ling is an open-air restaurant, warming up for her second season of partying.
Mykonos is described as an island with two personalities, by day laid back and sun-drenched with the smell of salt in the warm air, by night it’s an island bursting with glamour, lipstick kisses and deep tans. Ling Ling has grasped this concept with both hands, introducing the popular Hakkasan brand to Mykonos in a fun, fresh way that is sure result in the ultimate place to be seen and snapped with premium eastern cuisine and exotic cocktails
Perfecting her menus in time for the grand opening party in June, Ling Ling has introduced the very best from the east, drawing inspiration from the popular Izakaya concept. A widely unknown concept to the western world, this unique idea from Japan surrounds the notion of a relaxed place to gather and share, with a focus not only on gorgeous food but on fun and sexy cocktails. In a lively and carefree environment, Ling Ling will combine this with the hugely popular signature elements of Hakkasan, reinvented with exotic cocktails and presentations on small plates. Reimagining Hakkasan’s cuisine in a totally new way, Ling Ling’s Cantonese-style dishes and cocktails are at the very heart of the experience offering intriguing and ever-evolving menus, curated by the award-winning team in London.
For a true taster of Ling Ling try their Signature menu. For 8 or more people this colourful set menu includes their supreme fried dim sum dressed with decadent lobster mango salad roll, venison puff, pumpkin duck puff and sesame prawn toast. One of the most famous and popular eastern dishes, crispy dull roll is also part of this menu with chilled abalone mushroom salad. Mains consist of roasted silver cod with touches of champagne and honey, seared Wagyu beef with enoki mushroom and wok-fry three style mushroom with garlic, all from 98 EUR.
Arguably even more important than the food pickings on offer, Ling Ling’s cocktails are the true stars of the evening and take centre stage. Tying in the Japanese Izakaya concept throughout, the extensive cocktail list covers all basis; options from the Strength & Grace selection include the Passion fruit Millionaire – a mix of rye whiskey, passion fruit grenadine and egg white, all 20 EUR. From Ling Lings Condensed diversity selection a Plum Sour with Japanese plum sake or the Ling Ling Collins – Beefeater 24 gin, shiso leaf and Greeen Chatreuse liquer, again all 20 EUR. At 25 EUR, Ling Lings Exquisite cocktails take the lead; extravagant examples include the Red Champagne – Louis Roederer champagne with strawberries and passion fruit and the Asian Star – Diplomatico Blanco rum, Japanese Plum sake, Apricot brandy, lime and balsamic vinegar.
And well no party scene is quite complete without the best tunes wafting in the air. Ling Ling has the hottest sound track on the island with the latest mixes, all mastered to perfection by Hakkasan’s resident DJ in London, Pathaan; who plays a dynamic blend into the early hours throughout the summer.
