By LLM Reporters   |

Nestled in the IT hub of Bangalore, The Den Bengaluru has launched the city’s first Sunday Drunch – a combination of drinks, brunch and lunch. We sent leading food writer Bindu Gopal Rao to find out what all the fuss was about.

If you like to have a relaxed Sunday and enjoy time with family and friends there is an all new way to do that in Bengaluru. And to sample it for yourself head to The Creek, the all-day dining restaurant at The Den Bengaluru to check out the Sunday Drunch for yourself.

Relaxed Vibes

The Creek is designed with traditional classic European sensibilities and is surrounded with lush landscaping and true to its name a small water-stream runs around the restaurant. With a combination of indoor and al-fresco seating this space is done up in hues of grey and brown and the large glass doors ensure that the outdoors and indoors merge seamlessly.

Curated by Executive Chef, Kapil Dubey and his culinary team the brunch menu has something that will appeal to all kinds of taste buds. The extensive spread has over 200 mouth-watering dishes with the four live counters including shawarmas, pastas, soups, breads, cold cuts-stations and a smorgasbord of world cuisine ranging from Indian to Middle East, European to Oriental and a lot more.

There is a separate space for desserts so you can indulge your sweet tooth by sampling the large selection of both international and Indian sweets. As this is a brunch is bundled with drinks you can choose from a range of spirits to quench your thirst, there is a Sangria counter along with four types of sparkling wines. The best part is that the food is accompanied by a live band and you can also avail a complimentary foot massage when you are here.

If you are with kids, there is The Playhouse for the kids to play with a selection of games including a pool table, a video game console, VR Console and a PS4. And yes kids have a special menu with noodles, nuggets, potato pops, fries, popcorn, chocolate fountain with marshmallow and lots more.

The Food

The best part of the food here is the fact that it all comes together very well. I tried an array of Middle Eastern staples like hummus, tabbouleh, labneh, baba ganoush, salsa and a variety of dips that teamed perfectly with the tacos and pita bread. The salads here are fresh and you have an interesting mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

There are live chaat counters as well as ones for dim sums and pasta as well. The selection of Indian food includes some interesting grills – something that the restaurant is known for. You can sample over 15 kinds of grills with separate grills for vegetarian, pork, beef and other non-vegetarian food keeping in mind religious sentiments of people.

The Asian section has a selection of noodles, fried rice and curries and the best part is that the chefs are at the counter and are ready to converse with you. In case there is something you want (in spite of the large selection) you can ask the Chefs who will make it for you. The kitchen also has a pizza oven where you can get freshly made hot pizzas with toppings of your choice.

Interestingly each Sunday there are special cocktails made using different kind of spirits – so you could have whiskey special, wine special and mixed cocktails so each week is different. With its farm to fork philosophy, there is a lot of emphasis on fresh food.

On the extensive menu are items like roasted duck, shawarma, Laska soup, cold cuts-stations, chicken, sushi and Chef’s special seafood station which includes prawns, lobsters, mackerel fish and crab. There is a whole range of comfort food to choose from as well. In all, the drunch at The Creek is a Sunday well spent with food. Experience it for yourself and it is a meal that you will remember much after you are done with it.
