How much would you be willing to pay for a vacuum cleaner – that’s the question being posed by Firebox.

The leading online retailer is selling what is thought to be the world’s most expensive household cleaning device – a 24-carat gold vacuum cleaner that comes with a price tag of £800,000.

This high performance limited edition model is just perfect for picking up loose bundles of cash, stocks and bonds or any leftover blood-diamonds that might be lying about.

According to Firebox, this is the perfect vacuum for “stretch limousine interiors, red carpets and yacht decks”, adding that “at last; you can clean your house like the rich and famous”.

The vacuum cleaner weighs just 7.5kg and only 100 have been crafted exclusively for Firebox – each one engraved with an official serial number. It also comes with non-slip urethane wheels, a 10-amp high-performance motor and a lifetime warranty.

Firebox are offering free delivery on the vacuum cleaner but do state that “due to the incredibly exclusive nature of this product, delivery will be 6-8 weeks from point of order”.

“If you’re a clean-freak reading this on route to your luxury space station or you just won the lottery and need some spring cleaning, we’re waiting for your call. If not, move along, there’s nothing to see here,” said the retailer.

Firebox are no strangers when comes to expensive goods. Their online offering also includes a 24-carat gold racing bike for £250,000, gold cigarette papers (£49.99 for 12) and a £180 golden piggy bank big enough to hold £500,000 in £50 notes.
