Fancy bringing a hint of colour into your bedroom, but worried it may seem a little overpowering? Well worry not, as there are plenty ways you can bring in the bold without giving your other half a headache.
Cotswold based interior designer Vanessa Arbuthnott who knows a thing or two about daring design gives her expert tips on how to add colour subtly.
Add a Feature wall
One of the best ways to bring in a splash of color into the bedroom without it being overwhelming is by using a clever two tone colour palette. So your favorite colour is a bright fuchsia pink, but you don’t want to make the room too dark? Simple! Why not use a lovely neutral tone on 3 of the walls and then paint the feature wall in the darker colour, this way you can have a bit of colour but still allow the room to let in plenty of light by having it bounce off the lighter walls.
Love wall art? Then use this to your advantage and brighten up your room by adding a little canvas art. With so many different designs, sizes and colors available on the market to suit your taste, you will be spolit for choice on which theme to go for. Perhaps opt for a larger canvas design hung above the bed, or choose a few smaller ones and hang them together to give the room a contemporary feel.
So easy yet so effective. Why not opt for some colorful bedding to add a bit of colour to a plain room, you could try a wild pattern or perhaps a silk set in a deep red, this will instantly add some character to the room. If you don’t fancy going all out with the bedding, you could always add to your current bedding with a fabulous fur throw to create a chic look.
Add some life
It’s seems a very millennial thing to have plants in the house, little do they know we have been doing it for years. Want to add some fresh air and colour to the bedroom? Add some beautiful house plants to give it a new lease of life and more breathable air. These can easily be found from many garden centers or homeware stores and create a really homely feel to any room in the house.
Cushions are such an easy accessory you can add to a room to really set it off and complement a theme. Whether you go bold, patterned or sequined, having a few cushions dotted around the bed as well as on any furniture will instantly brighten up the room.
