Lingerie label to love: Adina Reay

By Felicity Williams   |

Sharon Lake is the founder of the most beautiful lingerie brand, Adina Reay. Proudly British, the luxe-label combines the very best laces, silks, and tulles to produce silhouettes that are the perfect balance of timeless and contemporary in sizes DD plus. And to top it off, the line is in a complete lust-worthy colour palette from soft corals to classic black and reds. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The brand can be found at top tier retailers globally, cue Journelle and Net-a-Porter, as well as her own online store. We sat down with Sharon to find out a little more about this super luxury lingerie collection.

How did Adina Reay first come about?

We launched Adina Reay in 2013, born out of a desire to create lingerie in DD+ that we really wanted to wear. I had always loved lingerie, but as a DD+ from my 20’s I was frustrated with the lack of options available. Born from this frustration and disbelief, we started Adina Reay. A clear vision of what lingerie should be in larger cup sizes – to challenge existing conventions on how fuller cup lingerie could look and fit. A brand created in collaboration with a team of lingerie experts, each with decades of experience working with the UK’s most respected brands and retailers.

Sum up your brand aesthetic in 3 words…

Contemporary, innovative, sensual.

Tell us about the silhouettes and materials that you use…

The brand uses the highest quality laces, embroideries, silks, and tulles to craft collections that are free from fuss and frills, allowing the directional cuts and quality finishes to shine through. The styles are developed to fit the whole size range without making alterations to strap widths, cups or wing depths. So, the bra you see in 28DD really is the same bra you get in 38G.

Who was your first retailer to stock the brand?

Selfridges, when they opened the now-famous Body Studio, they turned to our “Fran” collection to highlight the best of DD+ lingerie in their advertising campaigns.

What do you have coming up for 2019?

We’re about to launch the following:

‘MARNI’ – Sheer layers of tulle and lace criss-cross for a casual overlaid effect in a bold lipstick red shade.

‘LIZZIE’ – Bright and vivacious, our gal pal Lizzie loves a punchy pink – so we named this range after her! Cute and sassy bubblegum shade lights up the delicate tulle. The look is pulled into cool territory thanks to a clean line of vintage nude satin and fuss-free architectural styling.

‘VIVIEN’ – Austrian embroidery is finished with a high-shine laminate process creating a highly luxurious feel. The deeply scalloped cup shape features a semi-invisible nude tulle along the edge, offering support and old-school glamour A tour de force in detail

Also, design-wise, August will see us introducing soft pieces into our collections for the first time. And we’re super excited that Net-a-Porter will be featuring Adina in Asia Pacific in 2019 as well as the USA and Europe.
