And this is particularly true of the most unique models out there – like the two breath-taking new watch collections from luxury timepiece brand, Valimor.
This up-and-coming new brand is still a relative newcomer to the market compared to some, having been founded just four years ago – but since launching back in 2018, it has already begun to cause quite a stir amongst watch fanatics. Taking inspiration from the great artworks and captivating tales of the Medieval period, its passion for history and the aesthetics that come with its evident not just in its brand name, but in each of its beautiful creations.
While the moniker ‘Valimor’ – an amalgamation of ‘Valiant’ and ‘Armour’ – speaks for itself, it’s in its new Caliburnus II and Kilgharrah collections that the idea really comes to life, showcasing functional art in all its glory with a clear nod to the dramatic times gone by.
A nod to King Arthur: The Kilgharrah Collection
Let’s start with the Kilgharrah collection – the breath-taking new addition to Valimor’s impressive repertoire, set to launch on the official Valimor website in November of this year, is just as captivating as you’d expect. Inspired by the iconic legend of King Arthur, its impressive 60-hour power reserve, high-precision and automatic movement are obvious draws, and they’re all packaged in one of the most beautiful, design-patented, hand-tooled watches you’ll have ever seen.
Valimor is a brand that prides itself on its originality, and never has it been more evident that in this impending launch. Featuring a unique design with signature dragon scale engravings, original numerals and Valimor’s instantly recognisable sword hands, it’s truly a masterpiece of engineering indeed, and is certain to become one of the most covetable luxury timepieces in the world for 2022.
Since 2018, the brand has been meticulously developing prototype after prototype in a bid to bring its vision to life, refusing to give in until the Kilgharrah Collection was just right – and its dedication to achieving perfection certainly shows.
The finished timepiece is truly spectacular, offering exceptional durability and performance with the signature aesthetic Valimor has become known for.
Legend has it, the dragon unleashed his golden breath on the magical sword, enforcing the steel to incredible strength. The ultra-tough stainless steel case has been forged to a durability worthy of a dragon, with the design finally completed early this year by combining unique symbolic elements with high-performance features.
Its legendary Arthurian design is something that can’t help but ensure it stands out from the crowd, and having been patented earlier this year, you’ll want to get your hands on one as soon as they go live in November, because these beautiful wristwatches are worthy not just of pride of place on your wrist, but in your luxury watch collection for years to come.
A legendary collection: Caliburnus II
Then, there’s the Caliburnus II – an awe-inspiring wristwatch collection that is quite unlike anything you will have seen before. Patented in 27 states across the EU, it exudes modern warrior vibes and is already on sale on the official website, having proved immensely popular since its launch back in mid 2021.
Continuing with the iconic design of the original and highly sought-after Caliburnus, which was inspired by the legend of King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone, each watch is a masterpiece of engineering and an example of impeccable craftsmanship, made from unique materials sourced from across the globe.
So, what’s new about the second Caliburnus collection? For starters, the latest Miyota Cal.8315 movement’s power reserve has been increased to an impressive 60 hours, with improved dial details, superior build quality, new unique material selections, and a versatile newly designed rubber strap, making it the perfect choice to wear for a range of different occasions.
Fusing traditional high-precision craftsmanship with contemporary design, the latest iterations come in a hard, stainless steel case marked with delicate engraving, and such is the attention to detail and the meticulous work that goes into creating each that no two timepieces are the same. The sword-shaped hands are a particular standout feature, and upon wearing, promise to instantly make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
The manufacturing process for the Caliburnus II collection has simplified Valimor’s trademark dragon design into a unique watch case with a dragon scale engraved steel bezel. An innovative PVD coating, meanwhile, adds some additional oomph to the effect, with the new collection offering five different dial and colourway options in total.
“The characteristics of these materials require extraordinary skill of the artisan cutting it,” says Raymond Jones, Valimor CEO.
“They must be meticulously and carefully ground and polished in order to be made into a thickness of only 0.20mm to 0.40mm. Then, each dial is carefully inlaid and polished to achieve the 3D multi-faceted indexes before being painted with Swiss Super-LumiNova coating to achieve the eye-catching lustre.”
