We caught up with Sarah Kugelman, founder of skyn ICELAND, who, following her own stress-related illness, made it her mission to create a skincare brand that tackled the effects of stress on skin.
My car of choice
I love Teslas as they are beautifully designed cars and are also good for the environment!
My favourite holiday destination
Iceland goes without saying, it’s my total escape, inspiration and reset button. Also, le de Re in the summer, Anguilla in the winter, Beaver Creek for skiing over Spring Break. I love travel especially when it includes an activity and something wellness oriented.
My gadget I can’t live without
Sadly, my iPhone which goes with me everywhere, but my low-tech gadget is my anti-bac phone squeegee (ha!)
My go to fashion brand
Alice + Olivia, Anne Zimmerman, Gucci and Zadig & Voltaire. For shoes Giuseppe Zanotti – I think shoes are my number two obsession after beauty!
My airline of choice
Virgin – they just do everything with a flair and have somehow figured out how to still make travel fun, all other airlines need to take a page from their playbook.
My favourite watch brand
Cartier, I like the classics when it comes to watches.
My favourite restaurant
I can’t pick just one! The Grill in NYC (which was the old Four Seasons, which was my all-time favourite restaurant), La Grenouille (just a classic NYC fixture and never disappoints on food or atmosphere), Fishmarket in Iceland (delicious, healthy/organic and trendy), LouLou in Paris (chic and amazing food), China Tang in London (I loooooove that Peking duck).
My guilty pleasure
Spa treatments and long massages, luxurious hotels (Plaza Athenee, Aman hotels, Rosewood), Maison du Chocolate, staying in bed on a rainy day and watching great movies/TV shows on Netflix, and an amazing book.
My favourite way to give back
Mentoring young women of which I’ve done a lot. In my 15 years running skyn ICELAND, I’ve had over 50 female interns.
