The Luxury Lifestyle List: Wes Myron, fitness and lifestyle guru

By LLM Reporters   |

We caught up with Canadian sports star turned fitness and lifestyle guru, Wes Myron.

My car of choice

My current car of choice is my BMW X3. Living in Canada often means long drives, and an outdoor life means plenty of storage, and so I drove Chevy trucks for years. However, I’m a bit more city based these days, and my X3 is lighter, easier to park, and a little more fun to drive.

My favourite holiday destination

I’m not too far from Hawaii – just a five hour flight – and when I need to get away and recharge I get out to the island to recover. The people, the food, the weather – it’s all just right and, for a watersports guy like me, the surfing is some of the best in the world.

My gadget I can’t live without

I am definitely not one of those can’t do anything but look at his phone kind of guys, but my iPhone is always with me. Not so much for social media etc, but to run my business when I am on the move, which is nearly all the time! It’s like a Swiss army knife, with everything you need on there to run a modern company. Plus, I’ve got my new app launching on smartphones, so I need my phone to check in on that!

My go to fashion brand

I’m usually to be found in sportswear, or athleisure wear, and I don’t think you can beat Nike. They’re great for gym and sports specific stuff, but also so comfortable to travel in, plus looks good for casual business meetings.

My airline of choice

It’s probably a pretty small Canadian airline called West Jet. I live on Vancouver Island, which I love, but is a little remote, and not many airlines fly here. West Jet do great upgrades, but it’s their service levels, which are off the scale excellent, that keep me going back. If you’re flying into Canada I would highly recommend them.

My favourite watch brand

Back in my hockey playing days, a motivation coach once told me that you should buy a watch of significance every time you achieved something significant, to wear on your wrist and remind you of the moment when you may not be feeling so positive. When I got drafted to the NHL I did this, and I’ve kept that going through my business career. It’s a tough call, but I would say that Breitling watches are my favourite for their style and the way you can wear them every day.

My favourite restaurant

I’m much more about relaxed and healthy home cooking, but on a recent visit to London I tried out MNKY HSE. I’ve not had too much South American food before, and it was outrageously good. I’ll definitely be back next time I am in town.

My guilty pleasure

Ha, I have something approaching a hat addiction – I have well over 50 baseball caps from all around the world, and I rarely leave the house without one. When it comes to food, though, it’s pizza all the way. I spend a fair bit of time in New York with work, and I always come away a little heavier thanks to the pizza in that town!

My favourite way to give back

I played hockey professionally until I got injured out of the game, and it’s taken a few years to be able to re-embrace the sport. However, now I’m ready to get stuck back in, and my buddy has been looking to run a team of young kids, and I can’t wait to get out there and help him coach the team.
