Flood hit Grasmere hotel reborn on the 4th of July

A popular Grasmere hotel, which suffered extensive damage to its ground floor almost seven months ago at the hands of Storm Desmond will reopen to the public on Monday 4th July.

The Daffodil Hotel & Spa, which sits on the shore of Grasmere lake in beautiful Cumbria, has undergone a full refurbishment to its ground floor to include a new lobby area with reception and concierge desks, and a newly designed copper bar with modern glass enclosed seating area.

Guests arriving during the opening week will be welcomed with prosecco and handmade cupcakes on arrival and can take advantage of special room rates starting at just £99 during July and August.

Executive Chef Graham Harrower, who achieved the hotel’s first AA rosette shortly after his arrival last year, has created a range of new menus for the reopening.

These include a selection of small plates for sharing as well as a new tasting table menu served ‘family style’ – large plates of food to share around – for the enjoyment of the whole party.

Dishes on the tasting table menu include Buffalo Mozzarella with pesto and grilled flatbread, salt and pepper squid with saffron aioli, 28-day aged Buccleuch Scottish beef fillet with mashed potatoes, crisp shallots and Bordelaise sauce, and rum marinated pineapple with vanilla ice cream and vanilla madeleine.

Pastry Chef Sarah Howe has also created a new indulgent afternoon tea menu, which includes miniature doughnuts, strawberries and cream, cake pops and pink macaroons.

Guests at The Daffodil have a choice of dining areas, from the contemporary first floor dining room or large lounge area to the picturesque terrace overlooking the lake.

Everyone here at Luxury Lifestyle Magazine wishes the hotel the very best of luck for the exciting reopening next week.

The Daffodil Hotel reopens on Monday 4th July. Work is still being completed to its award-winning spa, which will reopen on Monday 5th September. Rooms throughout July and August are available from a special rate of just £99 including full breakfast.
