All-inclusive just reached a new level of luxury with the opening of The Residence at TUI Sensatori Barut Fethiye. This part of Turkey has recently become increasingly popular and it’s no wonder why, after seeing its sweet old town and gorgeous waters. TUI opened their Sensatori resort a few years ago but constructed an adults-only extra premium accommodation earlier this year (in May). Is it worth the fuss? Absolutely. A dream resort I never wanted to leave and here’s why.

TUI’s only 5T resort (their own stars), the rooms are all envious. They all have a gorgeous view of the impressive pool – although it looks like several small and separate pools, divided by the leafy palm trees and greenery, it is, in fact, just one large and winding pool, meandering around the resort. I’d definitely recommend booking a room with a swim-up pool; nothing says luxury more than leaving your room via your private pool entrance.

Rooms and suites are decorated in neutral tones with touches of luxury

You can also enjoy your own private pool deck and never have to worry about reserving a lounger with a towel again! Should you really want to up the game, guests can upgrade to a Lake House Suite which offers a swim-up (if you’re only staying on the ground floor) or a private terrace hot tub (if you’re upstairs).

The best part? Private butler service. Yes, at the push of a button, champagne room service or, quite frankly, anything your heart desires can be brought directly to your door by your personal butler. It makes dialling for it seem a tad retro… If none of these seem suitable, there’s also the option of renting a cabana for the day; relax on the beach and press for champagne and other treats to your heart’s content. You don’t even have to stay there all day, should a swim, kebab or trip to the water slides call your name.

The most amazing thing about The Residence is the plethora of activities available to all guests. Upon arrival, I downloaded the app to be able to see exactly what classes and sports I could participate in during my trip. I absolutely adore gong baths – nothing quite makes me shut off from the world like them – and these are done in the forest, where you have a view of the ocean. It’s magical.

Meditation and yoga classes are also available and should this not be your thing, perhaps an aqua aerobics class in the pool is more your style. If you’re up for some fun and adventure, I thoroughly encourage you have a go at aqua boarding. There’s not really a way to describe it but if you’ve seen Steve Martin in Cheaper by the Dozen 2, that’s a clue. Another is to wear a swimsuit, ladies.

Dining options are varied and include a 24-hour restaurant ensuring guests never go hungry!

You’ll far from starve at The Residence. The first thing I was shown was the 24-hour restaurant. What can I say, the staff know how to priorities information. It’s safe to say that this feature was definitely made use of during my stay and I don’t know how chicken nuggets will ever do as a midnight meal after being treated to steak sandwiches, lobster bisque and asparagus risotto at 3am. Asmani restaurant is the place to go if you’re looking for more authentic Turkish cuisine – be sure to try a Turkish breakfast on a couple of mornings as it is delicious. But arrive hungry – it’s rather sizeable.

Breakfast and lunch are part of the all-inclusive but dining in the evening will cost guests €25 per person – but you can definitely eat and drink your money’s worth, do not fear. All guests at The Residence are able to dine at all of the resort’s restaurants and cafés too. The app allows you to check opening times and book tables – handy, huh? The lamb chops at Cuphea, the outside bar and restaurant are also not to be missed.

Delicious Turkish breakfasts are part of the all-inclusive deal for guests

Should you wish to get out of the resort for a bit, there’s plenty for you to do. Take a VIP Blue Cruise boat trip around the islands and sail among crystal clear waters. My trip was certainly made by the guys at Gemo Boat – they took us around the best spots where we could jump off the boat, snorkel and have an incredible time. Not only were they so friendly but they cooked us the most amazing lunch. I mean it. No sandwiches or crisps (although these were available, were we to get peckish), but an incredible Turkish spread.

They barbecued kebab and other meats, chicken was glazed in a gorgeous tomato sauce and fish was grilled to perfection. Why have one salad when you can have five? All different types, too. Rice dishes, potatoes, chips and so many vegetables and stews. I’ll add that we were a group of seven but these guys knew what we knew. Food is the way to anyone’s heart and happiness. Guests can also go into Fethiye town – either by bus transportation, a cab or shuttle boat.

The impressively large pool winds its way around the resort

But don’t worry – if you’re going to choose to stay at The Residence, you’ll remain privilege to all the restaurants, shows and features available at the resort. Your VIP wristband will allow you to walk freely between both areas of this TUI Sensatori – and I totally recommend that you make the most of this.

The TUI entertainment team really give it their all; the singing groups are all West End level-trained so you should truly make the most of the opportunity to watch these guys perform. The comedy shows – suitable for adults only – are also a worthy way to end a Sunday. Mind though, you will get ripped to suitable shreds if you prance in late, rearrange the furniture so you can all sit together and then sip on your Espresso Martini.
