La Dolce Vita: The ultimate guide to honeymooning in the Amalfi Coast
Words by Gabrielle Avraham, from Gabrielle’s List – a luxury travel design company.
When hearing the words Amalfi Coast, the images of aromatic lemons, dramatic coastlines, and bubbly Spritz all shimmering in the glow of sunset immediately come to mind. The Amalfi Coast is one of our top honeymoon destinations as it oozes in romance and is the epitome of the Dolce Vita. Below you’ll find our handpicked design for the ultimate jetsetter honeymoon in the Amalfi Coast.
Where to Stay
Le Sirenuse Positano – One of Italy’s and the world’s leading luxury hotels. This once family-owned vacation home excels at intimacy and white-glove service, accommodating only 58 guest rooms. In the backdrop of the dramatic burgundy clay walls of the Le Sirenuse rest splendidly colorful hillsides and a turquoise Mediterranean that you would be hard-pressed to forget. We recommend staying here either three or four nights in order to fully absorb the grandeur and timeless warmth.
Why we love it:
• Franco’s Bar at sunset for Spritz, Presecco, and Bellinis just before you retreat to the most romantic dinner that you will likely experience in your lifetime. La Sponda, Le Sirenuse’s Michelin restaurant, shines with what might deceive you as the light of countless fireflies while you dine in the midst of over 400 candles.
• Le Sirenuse’s complimentary wooden boat ride excursions, which offer fabulous cocktails and mouthwatering hors d’oeuvre along with breathtaking views of Positano from the water.
Stay at JK Palace Capri – The glamorous JK Palace Capri (part of the luxury five star Italian Hotel chain JK Palace, with properties located in Rome, Florence and Capri) is a picturesque white villa nestled on a cliff with panoramic views over the Bay of Naples. This resort is arguably the best hotel in Capri and has been visited by countless A-listers like Bradley Cooper, Olivia Palermo and Mariah Carey to name a few. We also recommend staying here for either three or four nights in order to soak in both the resort and Capri.
Why we love it:
• A gorgeous terrace with unbeatable ocean-views, perfect for sunset drinks.
• Unique interiors of pearly whites and soothing blues that infuse the hotel with a quiet elegance that cannot be replicated.
Where to Eat
Visit the exclusive La Fontelina Beach Club Capri, which opened in 1949 and is today an ultra chic beach club (awarded 2016 Best Beach Club in the World by Conde Nast) as well as a fabulous restaurant. Guests can arrive by either boat or by walking down a very steep path (for those who like to work up an appetite). The Beach Club is famous for its stylish blue-and-white striped umbrellas where lucky guests lounge and indulge in the iconic vistas while sipping white-wine sangria with chunks of peach. La Fontelina Beach Club is the perfect option for a day outing.
Eat at Da Paolino Capri, a simply exquisite restaurant that is set in the midst of a stunning lemon tree garden. Guests are absolutely in awe when entering this divine sanctuary of plump lemons and soothing candles, with the overwhelming fragrance of over 130 lemon trees refreshing their every breath. Da Paolino is famous for its excellent seafood, wines, and varieties of unique lemon desserts.
Lunch at Aurora Capri – This family-owned restaurant, famous for its elegant Capri dining scene, marvelous traditional Caprian cuisine and epic award winning wine list from Italy and France, is located under chic cream-colored umbrellas in the heart of Capri. Aurora is one of Capri’s best restaurants (even if it lacks that ever-coveted Michelin star) and attracts returning celebrities such as Armani, Stefano Gabbana and Beyonce.
With this design, you and your partner are well on your way to embarking on a honeymoon that embodies romance, delighting of the senses and la dolce vita.
