What’s new in New Smyrna Beach in 2018

By LLM Reporters   |

New Smyrna Beach, a charming seaside destination in Florida with an authentic beach vibe and thriving collection of art galleries, independent guest accommodations, unique restaurants and outdoor attractions, is looking ahead to an exciting 2018 as a series of new openings and a historic celebration are imminent.

2018 ushers in the celebration of 250 years of New Smyrna Beach. The settling of the area by Scottish physician Andrew Turnbull was the largest attempt of British colonisation in the New World, three times larger than the first settlement of Jamestown. In summer 2018, there will be a series of celebrations, events and specials happenings across the town, for locals and visitors to enjoy.

American favourites will be served at moderate prices, and the restaurant will be contributing to Flagler Avenue’s eclectic live music scene.

The infamous Ocean Deck in nearby Daytona Beach will open a second location later in 2018, overlooking the Indian River in New Smyrna Beach. Phase one will include a marina with boat slips and a full-service restaurant, with a tiki bar planned to also open soon. ‘River Deck NSB’ will welcome guests with a casual friendly vibe and a menu featuring fresh seafood, grilled chicken, steaks and burgers inspired by the flavours of the Caribbean.

Mermaid Suite Spa at Inn on the Avenue

Established and utterly charming B&B ‘Inn on the Avenue’, situated in the heart of Flagler Avenue, will begin offering in-room spa treatments in 2018. While the ‘Mermaid Suite’ will serve as the spa when not occupied, treatments will be also available in the other colourful guest rooms.
