BMW launch the Concept M4 GTS at Pebble Beach

BMW M Division is set to return to it’s roots with the BMW Concept M4 GTS, a high-performance model for use on the road and of course, on the race track.

Founded in 1972 the BMW offshoot, BMW Motorsport GmbH, created the  iconic BMW M1 racing car, the first turbocharged engine to accelerate the Formula One team to the front of the grid and the top of the table and the world’s most success racing touring car, the Group A BMW M3. And so a year on from the launch of the BMW M4 Coupe comes the BMW Concept M4 GTS.

Culminating technology honed from race competition, a hike in power, a lightweight design and limited production numbers BMW have ensured along with the tradition of previous BMW M3 special models, that they have on offer a unique driving experience with a performance that will be tough to rival.

A stunning rear is accentuated with the OLED rear rights.
The BMW Concept M4 GTS features an exposed carbon rear wing to ensure perfect aerodynamic balance is achieved.

“Despite its outstanding track ability, it is still fully road-legal. This is racing technology for the road in the truest sense.” – Frank van Meel, President BMW M Division.

The BMW Concept M4 GTS showcases new technologies including a innovative water injection system providing significant output and torque boost which has already been displayed in the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car, bringing racing technology to the road.

It’s racing character is evident with a manually adjustable exposed carbon front splinter and rear wing which create the aerodynamic balance you would expect of a model of this calibre. Other notable features are the CFRP (carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic) bonnet and a wide front intake – included for the optimisation of airflow and reducing the front axle lift.  A particularly interesting aesthetic option is the Frozen Dark Grey Metallic paint with Acid Orange accent on the front splitter along with the lightweight polished light-alloy wheels in 666 M styling. Add in the OLED rear lights and you have a visually eye widening model, especially when darkness envelopes.
