Words by James Parker, head of TV product management at Samsung Electronics UK

This Christmas, whether you are looking for a TV upgrade to watch all your favourite Christmas specials in superior picture quality and to wow your festive visitors, or looking for a special Christmas present, Samsung offers a dynamic range of TVs perfect to suit any needs with unrivalled QLED picture quality. Here we look at the latest models…

The Frame

Whilst this is a top of the range 4K UHD TV, utilising Samsung’s QLED technology, it’s perfect for the style-conscious connoisseur who appreciates artwork and sleek, minimal décor – The Frame maintains a harmonious balance between brains and beauty.

A work of art when the TV is off, The Frame has been wildly successful with stylish tastemakers who believe TVs should complement your style and not be the central focal point of the living room. With interchangeable bezels and other dynamic customization options, The Frame offers more ways than ever to customise the look and feel of a room. With just the One Near-Invisible Cable connecting to the TV and all your connection hidden away in an external One Connect Box, there’s no spaghetti of cables to try and hide. The Frame goes beyond the traditional concept of TV to a functional piece of home décor that elevates the design of any living space.

Part of Samsung’s Lifestyle TV range, the two-in-one design can be personalised to display different pieces of artwork curated by the user. When not being used to enjoy TV or movies, The Frame’s Art Mode can display personal pictures and memories or choose from more than 1,000 pieces of art from prestigious artists around the world from the Art Store. The Art Store includes collections from galleries such as The Tate Gallery and the V&A Museum. When mounted, The Frame hangs flush to the wall and users can choose from different coloured magnetic frames (Bezels), allowing them to be easily swapped to suit individual home décor.

The Frame utilises QLED technology, delivering enhanced 4K picture quality and providing over a billion colours, as well as a new Smart Hub and Samsung smart TV platform, giving users access to the widest collection of 4K streaming and catch-up TV apps, including Apple TV and BT Sports.

The Frame is available in 43, 49, 55 and 65-inch sizes.

Serif

After two years of anticipation, Samsung has brought the Serif TV back with the improved pristine picture quality thanks to QLED technology. The Serif TV was developed in collaboration with Paris-based design brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, two of the world’s most famous furniture designers who, through the Serif TV, have created a bold aesthetic product.

When used as a TV, The Serif offers deep contrasts, dark blacks and 100% colour volume, providing over a billion shades of colour for a great viewing experience. Samsung’s updated Ambient Mode also provides information, such as news headlines and weather updates, as well as the ability to display imagery and blend into any living space when the TV is turned off, enhancing The Serif’s overall functionality.

In the past, The Serif TV was sold almost exclusively in furniture shops and department stores given its focus on interior décor and the importance of colour, but is now available for purchase at selected consumer electronics retailers in the run up to Christmas.

QLED 8K Q950R

Welcome to a new era in picture quality, with the ‘perfect reality’ 8K resolution of Samsung’s Q950R. Samsung has paved the way for audio-visual technology with its award-winning QLED 8K TV. Punchier and crisper, the premium QLED 8K TV range offers unrivalled, ground-breaking quality, whether you’re watching content through a streaming service, set-top box through HDMI, USB, or mobile mirroring. It utilises Samsung anti-reflective technology to ensure you just get the best picture and don’t get distracted by a lamp shade or the light shining through the window.

AI upscaling technology, every detail watched is remastered into glorious QLED 8K picture quality – even if it’s not filmed in 8K. With machine learning, the Quantum Processor 8K recognises and upscales lower definition content, outputting it in 8K.

The new 55-inch model brings greater choice to consumers for 8K TVs, which have previously been 65” or bigger and sits alongside the current range of 65, 75, 82 and 98-inch versions, offering an even greater choice of size options to suit different homes.
