Opt for oversized bedding

Like so many things – it’s all in the detail and one simple tip when it comes to creating an inviting and opulent bedroom is, the smallest details can make all the difference. By using a duvet that’s a size bigger than your mattress, not only will your bed look more visually appealing, but you’ll also surround yourself in extra comfort as you drift off to sleep. Whether you prefer a natural or synthetic filling, the luxurious drape of an oversized duvet will make your bed a welcoming space you’ll look forward to sinking into each night.

Upgrade the mattress

There is nothing more rejuvenating than a good night’s sleep and one of the quickest ways to emulate that luxury hotel comfort is a world class mattress

There is nothing more rejuvenating than a good night’s sleep and one of the quickest ways to emulate that luxury hotel comfort is by having a world-class mattress. However, when it comes to getting the most restful slumber, it can be subjective and from memory foam to spring or hybrid, your preference will largely depend on which position you sleep in, as well as factors like your height and weight.

With all that in mind, the key things to look out for include extra support from pocket springs, breathability from natural materials, and quality handcraftsmanship. One thing we can guarantee is that investing in a mattress that’s tailored to your needs will ensure you wake up feeling refreshed and energized every day.

Seek the softest sheets

For a timeless and luxurious feel in your bedroom, white sheets are a must-have. However, when it comes to choosing the right sheets, it’s important to dispel the myth that the higher the thread count, the better the quality. While thread count does play a role, the main factor to consider is 100 per cent cotton with a thread count of around 400.

For that hotel bedding feel, opt for a single-ply sheet which has a higher quality than double-ply. While they may come with a higher price tag, there’s really no price you can put on a full and interrupted night’s sleep.

Pile on the pillows

Having standing pillows and scatter cushions has become a bit of an art form in recent years – and really does elevate your bed as a focal point in the room. And whilst a lot of it is down to personal preference, we would advise having your two denser sleeping pillows stood up against your headboard and scatter cushions across the front.

Many high-end homes and hotels use the ‘karate chop’ by quite literally chopping your hand directly down the centre of a square cushion. A well-placed chop can really make a cushion or pillow look appealing to sit on or with.

Dress the windows

Bedrooms always require privacy, and whilst heavy curtains are great at blocking out the morning light, it isn’t always practical during the day. Dressing your windows in floor length voile curtains provide a layer of coverage that allows natural light to filter through while still maintaining privacy. The soft, sheer fabric creates a sense of airiness and adds a touch of sophistication to any bedroom – pair with more heavy-duty curtains in a material like velvet over the top to ensure the optimum night’s sleep.

Add the finishing touches

Whether neatly folded or tossed casually across the bottom of the bed, a throw or blanket can really liven up and add depth and dimension

Textured throws instantly add an upmarket feel to a bedroom – and the right throw can effortlessly tie together a room’s décor and create a cohesive, inviting environment. Whether neatly folded or tossed casually across the bottom of the bed, a throw or blanket can really liven up and add depth and dimension to your bedroom. It’s also an easy way to keep up with the latest trends or adding colourful touches to your room, without investing too heavily or having to redecorate every year.
