What are the biggest men’s hair trends for A/W 2018? Well we asked Sam Burnett, owner and creative director of leading London salon HARE&BONE, for his top four picks.
Short Back & Sides – remastered
The classic men’s short back and sides is still going strong. For A/W 2018, we are seeing more of a cropped late 90s, early 00’s look, with textured tops and blunt fringes as opposed to the butchered, super short all over, short back and sides. The short back and sides we are doing in the salon are tailored according to the hair texture and whether it suits the face shape and profile.
Grungy effortless Boy Bob
The 90’s grunge, Boy Bob is still very present and going strong. Anything from Kurt Cobain blunt bobs layered and textures bobs as seen on Adam Driver and Timonthee Chalamet, to slicked back looks.
Curtains
Pretty boy curtains as seen on David Beckham, Leonardo Di Caprio and N-Sync in the 00’s are back, but this time they are cooler, textured and messier, closer to the 90’s bowl cut. This look is a tricky one to pull off and for those who really want to make a statement.
Buzz Cuts
Tom Hardy (on the front cover of the September issue of Esquire) and Alex Turner’s recent buzz cut will set off the trend. This cut doesn’t suit everyone so always consult your hairstylist before going ahead with it. The length of hair for this style can vary so it doesn’t need to be the same length on the whole head and can be graduated to suit the face shape.
