The two luxury fashion trends set to dominate Summer 2019

By LLM Reporters   |

Spring has sprung, and summer is well and truly on its way – so what better time to overhaul your wardrobe for the season ahead as frosty mornings make way for warmer weather and bank holiday garden parties become a regular feature of your weekends?

For many, it’s one of the most exciting times of year when it comes to fashion, with soft pastel hues and bright pops of colour invariably filling the rails at your favourite high-end boutiques and whimsical florals taking centre stage for months on end. For 2019, we can expect no different, with dark prints and wintry shades making their way firmly to the bottom of the pile in favour of floaty fabrics, muted neutrals and of course, some classic designer sunglasses to get you through those long, hot summer days.

Simon Daniels at The Clutcher – a leading online fashion boutique which hosts an exclusive collection of clothing and accessories from some of the most popular multi-brand stores – says that there are two strong trends we should all have our eyes on for the summer months – and the time to get ahead of the game in the style stakes is now.

He explains: “The weather might only just be warming up, but eagle-eyed fashionistas have had their fingers on the style pulse for months now, frequenting catwalk shows to ensure they are a step ahead of the masses and ready to lead the pack.

“It’s not always easy to know which trends will stick around, but it has slowly become clear over recent weeks that this year, there are two that are set to really stand out.”

So what can we expect to be eagerly donning for the duration of Summer 2019? We think you’re going to like this.

Neutral Colours

“Neutral colours are set to dominate wardrobes over the summer months, and are versatile enough that you can wear them with almost anything,” adds Simon. “From Structured, lightweight, linen-blend trousers to classic blazers, invest in a few key pieces that you can mix and match with more adventurous tones and prints.

“Leather sandals in shades of brown and pretty wicker handbags are set for a big comeback, too. Beige, nude and camel are the neutral shades to be seen in this summer, so start looking for your seasonal staples now and as ever invest in quality over quantity.”

The beautiful C Chloe Clutch in Blondie Beige is one of our top picks from the SS19 collection – a smooth calfskin and suede bag that oozes simple and understated sophistication. For eveningwear, the pleated lame dress in beige, by Isabella Franchi, is a show-stopper for all the right reasons.

Flower Power

“Florals are back for SS19 in a big way, and we couldn’t be happier to see them make a return,” says Simon. “Reminiscent of an English country garden, these pretty and whimsical ditsy prints make for a style that is romantic and bohemian, and lend themselves to being either dressed up or down.”

The Clutcher is awash with beautiful floral styles to choose from – from pared down pastels and floaty dresses to bright, bold colours and statement shapes.

Our favourites? The bold Ermanno by Ermanno Scervino Multicolour Sleeveless Floral Jumpsuit, which boasts an all-over floral print and pink lace to the neckline, and the Versace Devore Sheath Dress for chic evening style.

And for the sartorial male…

So that’s the women sorted for the season – but what can we expect for men with summer?

Simons tells us: “Neons are set to be huge, with designers such as Versace and Alexander McQueen all giving a nod to the trend with fluorescent detailing and bold colours.”

For the beach, MSGM’s range of eye-popping shorts are a no-brainer – choose from neon orange or green and let them do all the talking. Philippe Model’s Multicolour L Mundial Pop Sneakers are a statement staple worth investing in, and can be paired with muted neutrals to add interest and character.

Printed T-shirts are also set to prove popular this season, so we’re told – and we just can’t get enough of Paul Smith’s and Karl Lagerfeld’s eye-catching designs. Dress down with jeans for casual daytime cool, or throw on a suit jacket and some smart shoes for a laid-back evening look.
