Hotel of the week: A blissful wellness holiday with Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort
A tropical haven, the island of Mauritius is known for its sandy white beaches, luxuriant landscapes of verdant hillsides and pastures, mountains and sugar cane fields that extend as far as the eye can see. The tranquil surroundings of the Heritage Bel Ombre in Southern Mauritius make a truly apt setting for Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort’s newly launched wellness experiences that guests can enjoy in luxury.
The five-star hotel has recently reopened following extensive refurbishment, and with the relaunch, has introduced brand new facilities, programmes, menus and a focus on holistic health. Along with the new services on offer, the hotel has launched with a new name to showcase its main focuses: Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort.
The resort’s approach to wellness is all-encompassing, taking care of the mind, the body, the emotions and the spirit. New three and five-day wellness programmes begin with a consultation with Wellness Director and French Osteopath Matthieu Gossart, who creates a personal plan for you to achieve a better mental and physical health, and to teach you how to adopt a healthier lifestyle once back home.
Several of the wellness activities are inspired by nature, including Forest Bathing in the adjacent Heritage Nature Reserve – a barefoot walk that lets the forest reinvigorate your body and fine tune your senses, Active Sea Walks – a thalassic therapy of walking against the current to release negative energy, as well as Nature Walks in the nature reserve with breathing and stretching.
You can take pleasure in the Seven Colours Millesime Collection Spa, offering numerous signature massages that stimulate the chakras and use essential oils that are adapted according to your personal need. Other new treatments include a Ayurvedic Stimulating Massage by Thémaé, a Digestive Massage, a 3 Tea Detox Wrap and Nepalese Style Tea Exfoliation.
A new wellness pavilion has also been constructed as part of the relaunch, now hosting daily yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong and meditation sessions, along with a series of specialist courses with leading yoga and Pilates teachers. Classes have been introduced that cover aspects such as breathing, managing stress and tension, postural alignment, cathartic meditation and life coaching.
To extend the wellbeing experience to the plate, healthy dishes have been designed by a nutritionist and the Chef, to complement the holistic approach to your wellbeing (gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian). Healthy breakfast corners are available daily with fresh, organic and non-processed nutrients. These options are available across the hotel’s 12 restaurants.
You can now choose to upgrade your 7-night stay to a ‘Wellness Bliss’ Programme for just £45/day that allows you to choose a daily wellness activity. This may include a spa treatment, private exercise class or fitness session with a personal trainer and even a health treatment (such as osteopathy).
In your luxury suite, Seven Colours offers the option of a wellness upgrade which includes a Chromotherapy lamp, a yoga mat, a pillow perfume to aid sleep and relaxation, a personalised bath menu, a scented in-room perfume of your choice depending on your mood, and a mini-bar laden with healthy snacks.
A suite at Heritage Le Telfair starts from £342 per night (two sharing) on a B&B basis. The Wellness Bliss package can be added on for £45 per day per person.
