The InterContinental Hotels Group have opened their fifth luxury hotel in France, located in the French wine capital of Bordeaux.

The hotel, named InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hotel, occupies a prime location on Place de la Comédie, Bordeaux’s central square.

Previously going by the name of ‘Le Grand Hotel Bordeaux’, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts took over the management of the establishment in December 2015.

The hotel’s historic building has been stylishly refurbished by leading French Architect and Designer, Jacques Garcia, with rich colourful designs typical of his opulent style. Garcia was given the task of restoring the property’s traditional 18th century splendour.

The building’s exterior and facade have been entirely preserved in its original state while the interior has received several stylish updates.

The luxury hotel offers 130 rooms, of which 44 are suites. It also offers a fitness, wellness and relaxation area, an indoor pool, hammam, 10 treatment rooms and a Jacuzzi on the 360° rooftop beach.

The InterContinental Bordeaux will also seek to become a culinary hotspot with the addition of a fine dining restaurant that carries the iconic Gordon Ramsey name.

The restaurant, named Le Pressoir d’Argent Gordon Ramsay, has Executive Chef Gilad Peled at the helm and promises “unique seasonal dishes from the terroir of Bordeaux, all expertly matched with exceptional, prominent wines from the region”.

“To have a restaurant in the wine capital of France with its world-class vineyards and glorious regional produce is extremely exciting,” says Gordon Ramsay, the internationally renowned, multi-Michelin starred chef.

The hotel is surrounded by the finest shops and restaurants in the heart of Bordeaux, a city that was recently voted Europe’s top destination to visit for 2015 by European Best Destinations.
