Restaurant Review: Amante Ibiza, Cala Sol d’en Serra, Ibiza

By Georgie Bentley-Buckle   |

Amante Ibiza is one of Ibiza’s most popular fine dining restaurants with a striking and private location in Cala Sol d’en Serra bay. Voted ‘Best Beach Restaurant’ in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and ‘Best Fine Dining Restaurant’ in Ibiza for the last two years, it is a sophisticated hideaway that has become iconic across the island.

An Ibizan hot spot that has made quite a name for itself over the last few years, spilt over a few floors against the cliff edge, the space itself is dynamic – adapting from early morning yoga sessions, long lazy afternoons to smart à la carte dinners. Below the main dining area we start with a brilliant mango and coconut concoction that is cocktail of the day whilst looking out over the horizon of the Mediterranean.

Amante Ibiza is one of Ibiza’s most popular fine dining restaurants with a striking and private location in Cala Sol d’en Serra bay.

Back upstairs, our evening is a carousel of dishes that are sourced from Amante’s very own organic garden. Healthy and delicious dishes with presentation that is as beautiful as its surroundings – quality is consistent across the board. Recently reopening in April for its ninth season, this commitment to quality continues to attract loyal locals and stylish diners who seek only the best.

We leave it to Amante to present a selection of dishes that represent the finest elements of this renowned menu. To start: an exceptionally smooth burrata served with a basil infused cream, datterino cherry tomatoes and pearls of balsamic vinegar and a selection of seasonal vegetables served over a bed of chickpea and avocado mousse.

Main dishes reflect gastronomic Ibiza: Sourced on the nearby island of Formentera is chargrilled squid served with mashed potatoes, Ibiza’s sobrasada (traditional spiced meat) and salicornia seaweed. This is paired with a succulent meat dish of duck magret with cream of celeriac, pumpkins pure, passion fruit reduction and confited kumquat orange. Desserts that are as creative and satisfying, we enjoy Amante’s classic fresh cheesecake served with passion fruit with cream of chocolate, pistachio sponge, fresh raspberry and raspberry sorbet.

Such a sought-after setting does not go without romance. Over the years Amante has built up a reputation as one of the islands most popular proposal spots.

Away from the food, Amante is a destination in itself. Leading the way as Ibiza’s most popular beach restaurant, in addition to morning yoga classes overlooking the ocean, Amante has also kickstarted the season with weekly gastronomic cinema nights that offer visitors an alternative way to experience the island.

Such a sought-after setting does not go without romance, and over the years Amante has built up a reputation as one of the islands most popular proposal spots. In response, this year the restaurant has launched a new proposal package for those looking to pop life’s most important question. Personally designed around the requirements of each couple, this new offering is designed to ease nerves and take away the pressure accompanied by the exquisite setting and some of the dishes that has made Amante so famous.
