We caught up with Dalila Salgueiro, a leading journalist, PR director and certified astrologer and manifesting coach who has lived in London for the past eleven years.

After going through a painful breakup and the loneliness experienced from being away from her family in Venezuela, she decided to start a journey to cultivate a holistic way for mental healing and positive living. These circumstances led her to study positive coaching and astrology for the past three years with Venezuela’s renowned astrologer Mia Astral, as well as the principles of the Mayan Calendar in Mexico and its day-to-day application to help those who practice them find their purpose.

Dalila has recently launched Manifesting, a digital platform that combines the principles of positive psychology and astrology to elevate your vibration and help you manifest your desired life. Through personal daily quotes, manifesting tasks, affirmations, and journaling, the app seeks to provide you with a strong foundation to cultivate your mind and thoughts.

My car of choice

Growing up in Venezuela I had a passion for big cars, as we used to go off road to beautiful paradisiacal beaches almost every weekend, so the roads were not suitable for all cars. That’s why, I would go for a Land Rover Defender 90 in a pastel blue colour. However, in London, after almost 12 years of living here, I’m just about to apply for my driving licence as I was never bothered to drive on the other side of the road (I much prefer to be driven!).

My favourite holiday destination

Definitely a sunny destination. I must say safari in Kruger Park or Los Roques Island, in Venezuela. It’s the most magical place I have ever been and I’m so happy to call home. However, Aruba in the Caribbean has a special place in my heart and recently Ramatuelle in France is my new favourite spot for short weekend escapes in the summer.

My gadget I can’t live without

My iPhone 14. I do everything on my phone, catch up on work, Manifesting press and users requests, natal chart readings, journaling, everything! I must say after catching Covid-19 I have been struggling with my memory so I love setting up reminders for myself and sleep with my phone next to me at all times.

My go to fashion brand

I love classy, clean cuts that look feminine, so I would always go for Carolina Herrera. She is from Venezuela and I admire her determination, style and sense of class. I also love to support small independent brands and been designing my own clothes recently with a local seamstress based in East London. That way I can choose the textiles, colours, and it fits me perfectly! Especially when you are petite like me (living in a country with taller demographics!).

My airline of choice

I would say Iberia, not necessarily because of the service or the quality of the planes but because that was the main airline I used as a child to visit my grandparents in Spain and it brings me beautiful memories. I’m half Spanish, half Venezuelan and grew up in between both countries, therefore I used to take the Caracas-Madrid route very often and it was always a very magical journey to meet my family after long periods of distance.

My favourite watch brand

I don’t have or own a watch. I try to follow the natural circles and wake up, go to bed when my body needs it. I’m very optimistic and always feel I have plenty of time to do everything in one day so I don’t check the time often. Also I’m Latina and we have a very different concept of time, gor example, if you are invited to a party at 7pm you are expected to arrive by the hosts no earlier than 9pm so I think having a watch is not necessary!

However, if I have to choose I will say a Cartier, very elegant and delicate or an Apple Watch to be able to track my health in a better way.

My favourite restaurant

Hard question, especially in London, but I will definitely say Cambio de Tercio in South Kensington, London. It’s a very authentic Spanish restaurant that makes you feel as if you are having tapas in Madrid. The owner, Abel is super charismatic and one of the waitress, Natalia, makes you feel as if you are part of family every time you visit the restaurant. They remember your wine choice, food preferences and even the allergies, simply the best quality and service!

My guilty pleasure

I love having beauty treatments. Being a PR director and founder of a boutique PR agency in London specialising in beauty and lifestyle brands allows me to get to know the best practitioners in London for facials, blow dries, hair colouring etc. So I would definitely recommend monthly facials with Su-Man at the Sofitel spa in London, hair colouring with Limoz Logli in South Kensington and Hair Botox and hydrating treatments with Bernardo Vasconcelos in Marylebone.

My favourite way to give back

I’ve collaborated with different charities since the early stages of my life. Growing up in a very poor country as Venezuela puts everything into perspective. For example, you can have a delicious meal in a restaurant and then find kids eating from the bins. That’s why, in London I tend to support a charity called Healing Venezuela, that provides medical support and resources to poor families, as well as different dog charity organisations abroad.

I just rescued my third dog from the streets in Antigua, so I love supporting charities related with animals. My dream is to have my own one and be able to rescue lots of animals in need. One day I’ll be back talking about it.
