Room With A View: Shangri-La Hotel, Paris
If you’re visiting a city to tour the traditional tourist spots, then it’s worth doing it properly. For a break to Paris, this means indulging in a stay at the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in the heart of Paris.
Situated on the seventh floor of the hotel, La Suite Shangri-La is a modern 220 square metre suite designed by award-winning interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. This plush accommodation features it’s own kitchen, a sprawling seating area populated with thick-cushioned, comfy armchairs and the potential to unlock a neighbouring apartment if you want to take over the entire of the seventh floor.
Arguably the best feature of La Suite Shangri La is the 100 square metre private balcony with a floor to ceiling view of the Eiffel Tour and the River Seine, which can be enjoyed from one of the many deck-loungers complete with fur wraps to keep you warm in the winter months.
If you can tear yourself away from the panoramic views of La Tour Eiffel, the hotel offers an array of gastronomic delights in each of its three restaurants. Awarded two Michelin stars in 2012, L’Abeille is the Shangri-La’s signature restaurant, offering gourmet French cuisine with dishes such as Duck Foie Gras, Marbled With Cocoa and Coriander served with Quince Jelly with Cocoa. For a more casual dining experience, guests can head to La Bauhinia, named after and inspired by the Asian Bauhinia flower, the restaurant serves both French and Asian dishes. Under a glass cupola, guests can enjoy plates such as Sea Scallop Tartar served with Cauliflower Panna Cotta with Curry and Lamb’s Lettuce.
The hotel’s third restaurant, Shang Palace, was awarded a Michelin star for it’s fine dining Cantonese cuisine. Guests can enjoy an authentic Chinese meal in the main dining area or book the luxurious private dining room for a special occasion.
